Advertisements Free Internet Browsing
No doubt Google brought new advertisement tradition with text only ads, else I was really fed up with those graphical pop-up and credit also goes to their contents relevant advertisement campaign, more and more advertisers moved with Google. But… now adsense is also offending me as people starting to place more and more advertisement and less contents
Do remember which article you last read on continuous page without a banner? I know it’s a way of making money for many sites but shouldn’t they be less hungry? So here is simplest trick among many others to turn off those annoying advertisements.
We can use our local host file to block all advertisements server and that too, without affecting our web experience. For those who don’t know what this file is for, let me explain, it’s a local text file which stores websites IP address so when a particular website is accessed and corresponding IP address is deliberately set to something non-existent or to the address which goes no-where, that website can’t load content. Isn’t it cool (and multipurpose)?
So just open host file in notepad and add these lines, and all done.
127.0.0.1 pagead.googlesyndication.com
127.0.0.1 pagead2.googlesyndication.com
127.0.0.1 ssl.google-analytics.com
These aren’t only Google ad-servers but they provide more than 80% of content. And last line helped me in loading many pages a lot faster. 127.0.0.1 is said to be loopback address, and computers don’t search for it on network. On windows XP and above machines, host file can be found in C>Windows>System32>Drivers> Etc folder.Even you can directly open drivers folder by going to RUN prompt and type drivers and hit enter key.
P.S. If you want, you can block ads from other providers too. You can take this for reference.
