Gtalk Group Voice Chat

GtalkAs I mentioned in my earlier Gtalk group chat post that its possible to have conference voice call in Gtalk.

Running multiple Google Talk is useful if users have multiple Google Talk accounts or want to do group voice chat(Voice conference)
You can add the /nomutex switch or parameter to existing Google Talk shortcut, or create a new shortcut with the /nomutex command line parameter.
To create a new shortcut for Google Talk:
1.Right-click on the desktop or anywhere you want to place the GTalk shortcut.
2.Select New on the right click context menu.
3.Then select Shortcut.
4.Copy and paste the following line to the text box when prompted to type the location of the item:
“c:program filesgooglegoogle talkgoogletalk.exe” /nomutex
5.Click on Next.
6.Give the shortcut a proper name such as Google Talk or Google Talk Multiple.
7.Click OK until you are done.
Using these 2 shortcut user can run 2 instance of gtalk at a time and login to them with same username and password.
If A,B and C these 3 Gtalk user want to have Gtalk voice conference all of them need to create two instance of gtalk as explained above.
Once everyone running 2 instance of gtalk they need to start cross/Zig Zag call as explained in below diagram.

Different users have Gtalk installed at different locations.Hence as per different users queries I am making some changes to this post.

To create a new shortcut for Google Talk:

  1. Find out shortcut path of current installed Gtalk copy paste it in notepad and add /nomutex at the end.
  2. For some users it will be as follows nomutex
  3. Right-click on the desktop or anywhere you want to place the GTalk shortcut.
  4. Select New on the right click context menu.
  5. Then select Shortcut.
  6. Paste the shortcut from notepad
  7. New shortcut will look like [Current Gtalk path / nomutex]
  8. Click on Next.
  9. Give the shortcut a proper name such as Google Talk or Google Talk Multiple.
  10. Click OK and you are done.

Using these 2 shortcut user can run 2 instance of gtalk at a time and login to them with same username and password.
