Hackers Get Into iTunes Accounts

More Apple iTunes accounts are being hacked. “USA Today” reports cyber criminals are having more success buying iTunes logons from e-mail phishers who have become experts at tricking users into typing their account credentials at spoofed websites. The newspaper reports hijackers often begin by testing a few one-dollar purchases before moving on to larger transactions.

They typically buy iTunes gift card codes, usually in amounts ranging from 50 to 200-dollars, then sell the codes at a steep discount on the Internet. Apple says there’s not much they can do about iTunes account hijacking. They advise consumers to change their passwords and contact their financial institution about having their account reimbursed. Apple CEO Steve Jobs says the company has about 150-million iTunes users.
